OnePlus has officially confirmed that it is skipping the “14” and moving directly to the OnePlus 15. Initial details shared by China President Louis Lee on Weibo indicate that the new flagship will raise the bar in performance and gaming. The OnePlus 15 is expected to be unveiled in China in October.
OnePlus 15 to Feature 165Hz Display
The OnePlus 15 will run the newly released Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and ColorOS 16, based on Android 16. The most notable innovation is on the display. The new display, a significant leap from the 120Hz refresh rate of its predecessors, will be able to run compatible games at a true 165fps.
This high frame rate interpolation will now be handled natively by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, eliminating the need for the dual-chip setup found on the OnePlus 12 and 13. However, the extent to which this integrated solution improves visual quality or power efficiency has not yet been confirmed.
The shared promotional video also reveals a significant shift in OnePlus’ design. The company will abandon its micro-curved display design for a flat panel. The device is expected to have a more modern look with more rounded corners and thinner bezels.
However, some changes may not be to everyone’s liking. Unlike the 2K resolution displays used in past flagships, the new panel will reportedly have a 1.5K resolution. This decision is believed to be made for better power efficiency.
Up to 16GB of RAM will be available to power the device. According to early Geekbench results, the OnePlus 15 approaches Apple’s A19 Pro in single-core performance and surpasses it in multi-core performance. OnePlus is also developing its own gaming engine to further enhance sustainable performance and efficiency.
Other leaked specifications include a massive 7,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. The long-standing Hasselblad partnership is also reportedly nearing its end, with OnePlus switching to its own imaging solution.
Following the OnePlus 15’s launch in China in October, its global launch is expected in early 2026.
